FRANKFORT, KY (May 30, 2023) — Expree Credit Union announces TaMyah Jordan as the 2023 Student Scholarship recipient. Jordan will receive $2,500 distributed over her college career. Jordan will be studying Merchandising, Apparel, and Textiles (MAT) at the University of Kentucky.
“This year, we opened the scholarship to any student that was a member or immediate family of a member of Expree even if they attended school outside of Franklin County. After reviewing all the applications, one student stood out, TaMyah Lee Jordan. She was not born with a disability but due to a brain tumor at age six, she became visually impaired. TaMyah has not let this slow her down as she has strong academic background and is very active with various teams and sporting activities. She will be majoring in Merchandising, Apparel and Textiles this fall at the University of Kentucky. She has a very positive attitude that will help her be a success in whatever she chooses to do!” said John Graham, CEO/President.
The Expree Scholarship Committee selected the winner based on community involvement, academic achievement, extra-curricular activities and an original essay on “Why Expree Credit Union is good for the community?”
“We tripled the number of applicants this year. We had 27 applications and 5 of those came from extending the eligibility beyond schools in Franklin County. Our efforts in reaching out to the local schools really made a difference. Next year we will work with schools in our other counties of membership and strive to bring in even more from those areas. We understand the importance of continuing your education and are happy to be part of this journey.” said Andrea Giusti, Chief Marketing Officer. “Expree Credit Union is glad to be part of their continuing education.”
